The Eastland Chamber of Commerce hosted its annual Golden Deeds Award Banquet on June 6th, bringing the community together to celebrate outstanding achievements and service.

The evening began with a cocktail hour under the pavilion at the Lumber Yard Event Center. Guests enjoyed drinks provided by Bear Creek Taphouse and had the opportunity to bid on an array of silent auction items displayed on the patio. Proceeds from the silent auction support the Chamber's Junior Ambassadors Scholarship Fund. This year, 15 Junior Ambassadors completed the program, each receiving a $500 scholarship.

Music on the patio before and after the event was provided by Larry and Cyndie Mace, adding to the festive atmosphere.

As guests moved inside, they were treated to a delicious meal prepared by James Doyle, formerly known as Spanky's Catering. The menu featured expertly grilled ribeye steak, twice-baked potatoes, salad, and cheesecake for dessert. Following the meal, comedian Cory Edwards entertained the audience with his engaging performance.

The highlight of the evening was the awards ceremony:

• Ambassador of the Year Award: Presented by Director Julie Elrod, this honor was awarded to Danetra Dunn. Unable to attend, Laura Hobbs accepted on her behalf.

• Junior Ambassador Scholarships: Chamber Board President Clint Coffee presented scholarship checks to Junior Ambassadors in attendance.

• Masonic Lodge Community Builder Award: Jon Glenn of the Eastland Masonic Lodge recognized Marcus Bartee.

• James T. Wright Community Service Award: Presented by Chamber Board VP Bobby Blackwell to the Eastland Lion’s Club.

• Prestigious Leadership Award: Presented by Clint Coffee to Terry Slavens.

• Business of the Year Award: Board Member Barrett Thomasson honored Collins & Son's Plumbing LLC.

• The Eastland Impact Award: Mark Pipkin presented this inaugural award, in memory of Kenneth Chapman, to the Kenneth Chapman family. The award celebrates individuals whose legacies have made a lasting impact on Eastland.

• The Golden Deeds Award: Chamber Board Officer Candi Kanady presented this prestigious honor to James Doyle.

U.S. Congressman Roger Williams sent his representative, Emily Boyd, to deliver Certificates of Congressional Recognition for each of the Chamber Award recipients. The evening was a true celebration of the individuals and organizations that make Eastland an exceptional community.
